eSIM and internet: build your remote-work connection

A connection for arrival, another for work and a backup. What to ask before buying.

Nomad Hub editorial team · Editorial update:

Connectivity starts before you land

Think about three moments: reaching your accommodation, working during the week and handling an internet outage. Prepare addresses, bookings and contacts offline for arrival. An eSIM can be one mobile-data option; first check your phone's compatibility and the provider's instructions.

Compare terms, not only gigabytes

Before selecting a plan, ask about destination coverage, networks, validity, activation timing, hotspot, top-ups and support. Knowing whether you need calls or a local number helps avoid buying a data-only solution for a different need. Plans and limits change: verify the specific offer when buying.

Ask for evidence of accommodation connectivity

A wifi label does not tell you how a call will work from your desk. Request a recent test from the workspace, ask whether the connection is shared and test at your usual meeting time. If there is nearby coworking, check hours and terms before treating it as backup.

A backup you have tested

Test tethering, battery and access to your tools before an important meeting. Avoid making arrival depend on activating a purchase without an available connection. The best choice covers your use and device; this guide does not publish guaranteed speeds or a universal winning provider.

Take this next step

  • Compatible phone and plan terms.
  • Actual wifi test and workspace.
  • Tested backup, charger and offline details.

Keep planning your journey
