Preparing your move
Visa, residence and stay: three different questions
Understand what each document authorises and how to organise entry, work and staying.
Nomad Hub editorial team · Editorial update:
Start with what it lets you do
The word visa is not enough to describe a move. You need to know whether the document allows entry, staying, remote work or moving to another authorisation. Write down its official name and issuing authority. A blog summary helps you navigate; the pathway source determines its scope.
Spain shows why the distinction matters
Spanish law separates the teleworker visa from residence authorisation. Applicant location and status change the pathway. The document name and expiry date need to be clear before putting its duration into a calendar.
In another country, check the pathway again
Croatia separates stay approval from entry documentation according to nationality. Greece changed a provision used for in-country applications in 2026. Neither pathway follows from what Spain allows. Check the current source even if someone you know used a different route.
Build a calendar around resolved questions
Separate application, planned travel, authorisation, entry and post-arrival steps. For each stage, record requirement, owner and document. If an official timeline is missing, allow flexibility without inventing an average. Choose bookings and contracts with unresolved stages in mind.
Take this next step
- Official pathway name and authority.
- What the document permits and does not cover.
- Validity, next stage and application conditions.
