Profile, resources and duration

Article 68 covers third-country nationals, a visa of up to twelve months and a subsequent two-year permit. Resources: €3,500 monthly, net for employment or service income; add 20% for spouse/partner and 15% per child. Document remote work for abroad.

The 2026 change matters

Law 5275/2026 repealed article 12(7). Do not plan around the old instruction to enter as a tourist and apply directly for nomad residence. Confirm the pathway and any transitional rules with the authority and competent consulate before travelling.

Build your evidence

Prepare contracts, remote-work permission, resources, identification and cover against the current consular checklist. Every family member needs their own documentation. Verify translations, fees and renewals for the chosen pathway; do not copy a Spanish checklist.

Taxes and tax residence

AADE describes home, habitual residence and centre-of-interest criteria, plus more than 183 days in any twelve-month period with defined exceptions. Identify dates, ties and treaty before deciding which country can tax income.
