Visa guide: Indonesia
Indonesia has a limited-stay visa for remote work, the E33G: it lets you live up to a year working for a foreign company, with income of at least US$60,000 a year. It does not include a general tax exemption: a long stay can make you a domestic tax subject.

E33G: second home for remote workers
Immigration describes the E33G as the visa to live in Indonesia while carrying out work for a company abroad. It requires an employment contract with a company established outside Indonesia and prohibits working for pay from Indonesian people or companies, as well as selling goods or services in the country.
Income and costs
You must show through a bank account a salary or income of at least US$60,000 a year, and a statement for the last three months with a minimum balance of US$2,000 for living costs. Immigration lists a total cost of IDR 7,000,000 per year: visa, limited stay permit, re-entry permit and verification.
Stay, entry and extension
The E33G allows a stay of up to one year and can be extended online. Once issued, you have at most 90 days to enter Indonesia. Overstaying or doing activities outside the permit can bring immigration penalties, so check the conditions before taking any local work.
Taxes and tax residence
Under the Directorate General of Taxes regulation PER-23/PJ/2025, a person is a domestic tax subject if they reside in Indonesia, stay more than 183 days in a twelve-month period, or are in the country during a tax year with the intention to reside. That intention can be shown, among other documents, by a visa valid for more than 183 days.
